Highlights from the 2023 Putnam Competition
Congratulations to the 13 ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV students who took part in six exhausting hours of the 2023 last December.
Almost 4000 students from over 450 institutions in the US and Canada participated in this competition.
The ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV team placed 2nd among all teams in the of the Mathematical Association of America. The team placing was determined by the sum of the top three individual scores from ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV.
¶¡ÏãÔ°AV’s top three scorers were Oscar Lautsch, and an equal tie between Jonathan Aloni, Minsoo Choo, Yupeng Zhao. A special congratulations to Oscar Lautsch, who achieved a placing in the Top 500.
“I’m really proud of all our Putnam participants," says Jonathan Jedwab, who trained the ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV students for the Putnam Competition. "They put huge effort into improving their problem-solving skills when they take MATH 480W (The Art and Craft of Problem Solving) and they learn how to express their solutions precisely and persuasively. These results are the outcome of all their hard work."
