Microsoft 365
What is Microsoft 365?
Microsoft 365 (formerly known as Office 365) is a collection of productivity tools that combines the commonly used Office apps (e.g., Word, PowerPoint and Excel) along with powerful collaboration services like Microsoft Teams, and OneDrive.
Over the next two years, ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV will be introducing more Microsoft 365 cloud services to help our community engage virtually and expand ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV's capabilities for unified communications in the future. Visit the Microsoft 365 at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Roadmap page for more details.
All current ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV faculty, staff and students are eligible to install Microsoft 365 for free on up to 5 individual-use devices, such as laptop, tablet, or smartphone.
Note. The availability of the individual applications within M365 may vary, please refer to the application pages for more details on eligibility:
¶¡ÏãÔ°AV retirees, emeritus and adjunct professors are eligible for Office 365 online to help facilitate working with the University community. This furnishes all the Office services, but does not allow for downloadable desktop installs of Office. The Office suite is still available in a browser.
How do I install Microsoft 365?
Individual-use
Microsoft 365 is available to all current ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV faculty, staff, and students with a Microsoft 365 account.
Visit the Getting Started page for instructions on how to sign in to an ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Microsoft 365 account and install M365 on your individual-use device.
University-managed
If you are an ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV faculty/staff and you hold a university-managed device, Office applications (but not M365) should be pre-installed on your device.
Please contact the IT Service Desk at it-servicedesk@sfu.ca or 778-782-8888 for any software inquiries/installations.
Microsoft Office
Available to ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV faculty, staff and students. MS Office is a collection of productivity tools, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneNote, Outlook, and Publisher.
Microsoft OneDrive
Available to ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV faculty, staff and students. OneDrive is a file hosting and synchronization service for individuals at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV. It allows you to securely store, share and synchronize your individual files and folders from any device anywhere at any time.
Microsoft Teams
Available to ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV faculty, staff and graduate students. MS Teams is a virtual collaboration app that brings together Microsoft 365 services (such as Office and OneDrive) to keep you virtually connected to the ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV community from anywhere at any time.
