master's student in the Faculty of Health Sciences

I am currently at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV for an MSc in the Faculty of Health Science studying Vaccine Immunology in the Pantophlet lab. I am interested in studying infectious diseases and antiviral antibody responses.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO COME TO ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV?

I started working on this project as an undergrad volunteer in the Pantophlet lab and decided to pursue my MSc here to continue working on this project.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR RESEARCH OR YOUR PROGRAM TO A FAMILY MEMBER?

My thesis is on a vaccine design project for Human Cytomegalovirus (HCMV), which is a significant cause of morbidity in transplant recipients and immunosuppressed individuals, as well as being the most common cause of congenital infection around the world. I hope to contribute significantly to the development of an effective vaccine to prevent congenital disease and HCMV infection in general.

WHAT ARE YOU PARTICULARLY ENJOYING ABOUT YOUR STUDIES/RESEARCH AT ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV?

I am enjoying the research and lab work that I get to do. I like how I have the opportunity to present my research at conferences and meet interesting people.
