Donor Stories

Our community of award donors are generous and caring people who unselfishly give to support the educational endeavors of our graduate students. The impact of receiving an award is significant for students—it can be the defining factor in the completion of their program. To honour their importance, we share some donor stories with you.

  • Dr. A. John Ellis' (O.C, O.R.S., LL.D.) belief in the power of education to change lives and society, led to the establishment of the BMO John Ellis Graduate Scholarship in Indigenous Business and Leadership Annual Award.

  • ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Alumnus, Paul Higgins' passion for applying science to real world environmental problems and pulling different groups together who could solve those problems, led to the establishment of the Paul Higgins Resource and Environmental Management Graduate Award.

  • ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Professor Emerita, Mary Lynn Stewart has been described as the 'heart and soul' of the Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies (GSWS) department, which is why its not surprising that she's donated to more 13 endowments at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV to support GSWS students.

  • Global executive and ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Alumnus, Frode Strand-Nielsen (BA ’80), has made several contributions to the ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV community, including the Knud George Pedersen International Graduate Students Fund Endowment.
