Tell us a little about yourself, including what inspires you to learn and continue in your chosen field

I am passionate about community care and research as a tool for social change. I enjoy spending time with family, in nature and being active.

Why did you choose to come to ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV?

I came to ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV for the community, social justice focus of my program. I was also drawn here for the opportunity to work with my supervisor, Dr. Sharalyn Jordan.

How would you describe your research or your program to a family member?

I am currently studying to become a registered clinical counsellor in BC. My research background is in social psychology, looking at ways to decrease stigma and discrimination against marginalized groups. My current research explores how queer and trans clients and counsellors navigate stigma when forming the therapeutic alliance.

What three (3) keywords would you use to describe your research?

therapy, stigma, SGM

How have your courses, RA-ships, TA-ships, or non-academic school experiences contributed to your academic and/or professional development?

My undergraduate experience in social psychology courses and research expanded my understanding of intergroup dynamics and the change process. Gaining better insight into the relationship betweeen beliefs, actions, and impact inspired my specific research interests.

Have you been the recipient of any major or donor-funded awards? If so, please tell us which ones and a little about how the awards have impacted your studies and/or research
