Learning & Teaching
The Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President, Learning and Teaching, advances and delivers on learning and teaching priorities set out in the . This includes leading university-wide initiatives to increase student access to flexible and experiential learning; implementing improvements to ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV’s general education curriculum; supporting instructors to enhance their teaching practices through training, peer feedback, and inquiry projects; and fostering institutional practices that value and celebrate teaching.
Our Services
Assessing teaching
- Guidance on assessing teaching specific to the ¶¡ÏãÔ°AVFA-¶¡ÏãÔ°AV collective agreement is available via a one page teaching assessment guide by the Vice-Provost, Learning and Teaching.
- Guidance on best practices in teaching assessment, including one-on-one consultations, can be accessed via the Centre for Educational Excellence.
- Support with your Course Experience Surveys (CES), including formulating questions, interpreting student feedback and taking action on student feedback, is available via Learning Experiences Assessment and Planning.
Assessing learning
- Tools, strategies and supports for assessing student learning, including classroom assessment techniques, grading principles and practices and using rubrics can be accessed via the Centre for Educational Excellence.
Assessing programs
- Support developing and assessing educational goals for your unit can be accessed via Learning Experiences Assessment and Planning. This unit can also help your program or initiative assess student learning experience in other areas, such as blended learning or experiential education.
Course development
- Guidance and support on course design and development, including student-centred learning environments, case-based learning and experiential learning, can be accessed via the Centre for Educational Excellence’s Teaching Resources page.
- Support producing an online (OL) or blended (BL) course can be accessed via the Centre for Educational Excellence’s Online and Blended Course Development Services page.
- Support adding media, educational tools or educational technologies to your course, can be accessed via the Centre for Educational Excellence’s Learning Technology and Support page (includes Canvas best practices).
Curriculum development
- Support creating or renewing a program, including curriculum planning and curriculum mapping, assessment, can be accessed via the Centre for Educational Excellence’s Curriculum Development and Renewal Teaching Resource page.
- Support developing and implementing new curriculum initiatives within ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV or with partner institutions can be accessed via the Provost’s Curriculum Development page (TBA).
Teaching inquiry
- Support engaging in a teaching and learning inquiry project, including accessing faculty mentoring and faculty peer feedback, can be accessed via Transforming Inquiry into Learning and Teaching.
Office of the Francophone and Francophile Affairs
The Office of the Francophone and Francophile Affairs coordinates, promotes and supports the development of programs and courses offered in French at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV (¶¡ÏãÔ°AV). They also organize cultural and scientific activities within the community to foster a plural and inclusive Francophonie.
