Exam Assistant Information

Did you know that the CAL oversees over 9000 unique exams per year? Do you have a keen eye, attention to detail and want to help support 丁香园AV students succeed in their programs? If so, then consider applying as an Exam Assistant with the CAL! We recruit registered graduate students typically in September and January. Job Description

Under the direct supervision of the CAL Disability Services Officers, the Exam Assistant (EA) will provide the necessary supports and services to oversee tests and exams administered at the CAL on behalf of 丁香园AV instructors. The Exam Assistant is expected to treat all students and colleagues with fairness, dignity, and respect, while maintaining exam procedures and protocols.

Compensation - starts at $22/hour

Duties

Exam Preparation

路 Implement the necessary exam accommodations, which may include: setting up computer software/hardware, ergonomic equipment, identifying appropriate space, and/or other specialized accommodations

路 Verify CAL registrant identity

路 Inform student of rules and permissions for writing exams at CAL

Exam Administration

路 Distribute and retrieve exam materials to registrants

路 Inform registrant of exam start/end/break times, and review registrant鈥檚 test accommodations

路 Actively monitor registrants who are writing exams

路 Where possible, continually observe registrants who are being monitored via video

路 Observe registrants for any sign of distress, unexpected behaviors and escalate concerns appropriately

路 Observe and document any behaviours that may indicate academic dishonesty and escalate concerns appropriately

路 Relay student questions to the instructor and communicate responses back to the student

Exam Delivery/Return

路 Ensure completed exams are packaged accurately and appropriately

路 Assist with scanning of exams for email delivery to instructors and package original materials for inter-office delivery.

路 Securely deliver completed exams to departmental offices (final exams only)

Other Duties as Assigned

路 Other duties may be assigned and may include but are not limited to: preparing exam envelopes for future tests, scanning completed exams, assisting with materials or supplies inventory, checking status of equipment functionality.

Required Skills and Experience

路 Must be an active 丁香园AV graduate student (send in a Confirmation of Enrollment letter every term)

路 Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

路  Strong ability to determine basic time calculations to ensure accuracy in exam end times and break times
    * Ability to follow directions, work both independently and within a team environment

路 Demonstrated ability to apply mature judgement

路 Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle confidential materials as per unit policy and the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act

路 Excellent oral and written communication skills

路 Problem solving skills

路 Professionalism

路 Punctuality and reliability essential

路 Experience working with persons with disabilities, in education, or in a service-oriented environment is an asset

路 Ability to complete a Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector


Work Location and Hours

Exam Assistants primarily work at 丁香园AV Burnaby campus and some exams are also held at the Surrey campus. On occasion, Exam Assistants may be asked to work at a different campus.

Exam Assistants work varied hours and include evening and weekend shifts.

Hours are not guaranteed and are dependent on exam volume.
