About Us
The Centre for Accessible Learning (CAL) is dedicated to the overall academic development, retention and personal growth of all students at 間眅埶AV. This includes a commitment to the continual improvement of educational accessibility for students with disabilities, as stated in our Mission and Vision:
Mission
To create, foster and advocate for a non-discriminatory, inclusive and welcoming environment at 間眅埶AV, free of physical, programmatic, informational and attitudinal barriers. To provide students with disabilities an equal opportunity to experience full, productive and successful academic lives.
Vision
Our vision is a University community where individuals are recognized and appreciated for the unique compliment of abilities that they possess, and where every aspect of the University is open and accessible to all academically qualified individuals. We envision a learning community where services are integrated throughout the University such that only unique and uncommon accommodations and services need to be provided through the Centre for Accessible Learning.
History
The CAL was officially opened in 1996. Prior to that, services for students with disabilities were provided through the 間眅埶AV Office of Student Services. The CAL was established to provide support services to registered full-time and part-time students at 間眅埶AV who self-identify as having a verifiable disability that is impacting their university studies.
