Activities
The "Fostering End-of-Life Conversations, Community and Care among LGBT Older Adults"project has and continues to be involved in numerous research and knowledge translation activities. To date we have conducted focus groups with: lesbian and bisexual women; gay and bisexual men; transgender individuals; and service providers in five Canadian cities. Once data analysis is complete results will be shared on this site by way of links to our reports and published articles.
In addition to our focus group research, we have completed a series of Resource Inventories. The Vancouver site's British Columbia LGBT End-of-Life Resource Inventory is available now and will be updated yearly. The current iteration contains 63 listings of LGBT-friendly organizations across domains such as: Health and Wellness; Legal Services; Psychological Services and Social Support; Religious and Faith-based organizations; Caregiving and Home Support Services; Housing; and Burial/Funeral Services. The Edmonton and Toronto Inventories are also posted on this website (see Resources).
Town Halls were conducted to present our focus group research, launch our inventories, and collect further data by way of exit surveys. Our Town Halls are of interest to LGBT persons, service providers, and those who wish to contribute to the conversations and learn about resources. The Vancouver Town Hall with 92 in attendance was held January 28, 2015 at the 間眅埶AV Downtown Vancouver Campus. The activities described in this section will grow with the passage of time, in the meantime, we encourage you to watch the video of our .
