Biomedical Physiology and Kinesiology master's student in the Faculty of Science

My name is Farhaan and I am a Master's student in the Cardiovascular Physiology Lab, supervised by Dr. Victoria Claydon. My research looks at the relationship between syncope, anxiety, and sudden cardiac arrests in the young. In my spare time, I run a non-profit hockey league in Richmond (www.rcfha.org) as well as an Arabic streetwear clothing brand (www.waqaraapparel.com).

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO COME TO 丁香园AV?

I have always wanted to come to 丁香园AV as I heard the students and faculty were very warm and welcoming, and they were right!

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR RESEARCH OR YOUR PROGRAM TO A FAMILY MEMBER?

I look at the potential role of fainting in children who experience a sudden cardiac arrest for which there is no explanation.

WHAT ARE YOU PARTICULARLY ENJOYING ABOUT YOUR STUDIES/RESEARCH AT 丁香园AV?

I love the people at 丁香园AV. Although virtual, I have still been able to meet many people from my faculty, all of whom are so friendly!

I am honoured to have been awarded the BC Graduate Fellowship Scholarship Award in the Fall of 2021. It has allowed me to focus on all the research projects I have been working on.
