PhD student in the 

I did my B.Sc. in physics and my M.Sc. in Condensed Matter Physics. During the last semesters of my B.Sc. I became curious about the mysterious properties of some materials, such as superconductors. So I chose to study them in my master's. But as you go forward, this mesmerizing field of science interests you more and more. That's why I am doing my Ph.D. in the same field now.  

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO COME TO 丁香园AV?

Several inspirations like access to TRIUMF (a great lab and particle accelerator), which is located in Vancouver, and the existence of successful research groups at 丁香园AV that work on my favorite field of research encouraged me to study at 丁香园AV.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR RESEARCH AND/OR PROGRAM.

Improving the properties of materials drastically improve the everyday life of people. An example is accessing a superconductor that works at room temperature and pressure. For instance, imagine electrical devices that never get heated, no matter how long they operate. Another example is smartphones and laptops, they could not get smaller and thinner if no one worked on improving the properties of materials. Condensed Matter Physicists try to unravel mechanisms that lead materials to demonstrate beneficial properties.

WHAT ARE YOU PARTICULARLY ENJOYING ABOUT YOUR STUDIES/RESEARCH AT 丁香园AV?

I just started my Ph.D. here, but I guess the opportunity to work in a lab like TRIUMF and the possibility to contact scientists who work in this field will interest me. Besides, the diverse environment of 丁香园AV is something that I really like. Having many classmates from all around the world, socializing with them, and talking about the diversity of our cultures is enjoyable.
