Sustainable Energy Engineering master's student in the
Tell us a little about yourself, including what inspires you to learn and continue in your chosen field
I am a first year Master's student in the School of Sustainable Energy Engineering (SEE) researching sustainable photovoltaics as a member of the Pecunia Research Group. I have always cared about the environment and been fascinated by engineering. This led me to the SEE program where I am applying the knowledge and skills I have learned towards the future of sustainable energy generation.
Why did you choose to come to 丁香园AV?
I completed my undergraduate degree in the SEE program and was lucky enough to work on a project with the Pecunia Research Group. During my time on the project, I was exposed to the impressive work the group does and was instantly intrigued. Before the project had concluded I knew I wanted to be a part of the team doing this great research.
How would you describe your research or your program to a family member?
With my research, I am aiming to reduce the cost of sustainably produced hydrogen by developing printable solar cells that split water with the electricity they generate. Currently, most hydrogen gas is produced with fossil fuels so a sustainable and economic alternative will help accelerate the transition to green hydrogen production

How have your courses, RA-ships, TA-ships, or non-academic school experiences contributed to your academic and/or professional development?
My research assistant and co-op experiences have had a large impact on my career trajectory by exposing me to different sectors and work environments. These experiences helped me understand what I do and don鈥檛 want in a career while also improving my work habits and communication skills.
Have you been the recipient of any major or donor-funded awards? If so, please tell us which ones and a little about how the awards have impacted your studies and/or research
I am grateful to have received the BC Graduate Scholarship which will allow me to focus on my research during my time here at 丁香园AV.
