Tell us a little about yourself, including what inspires you to learn and continue in your chosen field
I'm passionate about solving real-world challenges using cutting-edge technology. I’ve always aspired to be a research scientist, and the applied nature of my work allows me to see its impact in the short run, which keeps me motivated to explore and innovate further.
Why did you choose to come to ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV?
I chose ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV for its strong emphasis on research and its rich community specially in visual computing and graphics, as well as its collaborative atmosphere.
How would you describe your research or your program to a family member?
In simple terms, my research involves creating 3D models of real-world environments using multiple cameras. Imagine taking pictures from various angles and then using those images to generate a detailed 3D version of the scene. This technology has many applications, from self-driving cars to virtual reality.
What three (3) keywords would you use to describe your research?
Computational Photography, Learning based Vision, Computer Graphics
How have your courses, RA-ships, TA-ships, or non-academic school experiences contributed to your academic and/or professional development?
Through TA-ships, I've gained valuable teaching experience, improving my ability to communicate complex ideas to students. RA-ships have enhanced my technical skills, directly supporting my research. Additionally, my two years of industry experience as a programmer before starting my Master's at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV helped me develop time management and various technical skills. More recently, I began assisting my wife with her artwork ventures, which has allowed me to find a creative balance between research and personal interests.
Have you been the recipient of any major or donor-funded awards? If so, please tell us which ones and a little about how the awards have impacted your studies and/or research

What have been the most valuable lessons you've learned along your graduate student journey (or in becoming a graduate student)?
The most valuable lessons I’ve learned are the importance of persistence and adaptability. Research often involves unexpected challenges, but staying committed while learning from each obstacle has been essential. Additionally, I’ve learned the significance of collaboration—working with peers and faculty can provide fresh perspectives and innovative solutions.
How do you approach networking and building connections in and outside of your academic community?
I prioritize connecting with others by attending conferences, seminars, and by engaging with the broader community through my public webpage and social media. These interactions allow me to stay updated with current research trends and foster collaborations beyond my immediate academic circle.
What are some tips for balancing your academic and personal life?
Setting clear boundaries has been essential, as well as allocating dedicated time for family and personal interests, like supporting my wife’s art journey. Scheduling breaks and enjoying hobbies help maintain my mental well-being, ensuring that I can be fully present in both my academic and personal life. Inspired by my wife’s art journey, I’ve also recently tried pottery and painting, which has added a refreshing, creative outlet to my routine.
