Saboora M. Roshan
Mechatronic Systems Engineering doctoral student in the
I am a Ph.D. student in the School of Mechatronic Systems Engineering where I am a TA as well. I am also the GSS representative in EGSA as well as the event organizer in IEEE ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Student Branch. In my free time, I would like to spend time with my family and friends, read books, and dance.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO COME TO ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV?
The specific application of screening diseases, abnormalities, and impairment has always been of a keen interest of mine, and I have been researching in this field since my master’s studies in Iran. I chose ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV because I believe the high-quality research being performed in ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV will help me to expand my knowledge and experience and to put forward academia-based solutions for the real-world challenges.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR RESEARCH OR YOUR PROGRAM TO A FAMILY MEMBER?
Alcohol and drug use is one of the main reasons of accidents in workplaces. My research focuses on designing automated wearable systems to detect drug impairment in workers in a continuous and non-invasive way. Our proposed method could potentially prevent accidents and injuries in workplaces and increase safety at work.
WHAT ARE YOU PARTICULARLY ENJOYING ABOUT YOUR STUDIES/RESEARCH AT ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV?
I really enjoy the multicultural and multidisciplinary environment at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV which brings me the opportunity to meet and collaborate with students, professors, and researchers from different cultures and fields of research.
