"I really enjoy that everyone I've met is always super helpful and open to new things."
Sebastian Dille
Computing Science PhD student in the
I’m a first-year PhD student with a passion for film and the outdoors.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO COME TO ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV?
Previously to coming to ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV, I was working as a post-production supervisor for several years. I liked the job, but I was missing the opportunity to do research myself and try out new ways to solve the problems that came up. When I came across the work of my supervisor YaÄŸiz Aksoy, I thought 'Hey, that sounds exactly like what I'm looking for.' and applied.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR RESEARCH AND/OR PROGRAM.
My research is focused on machine-learning applications for film and visual effects. I’m interested in generating additional data from videos like illumination conditions or depth, which is not or only hardly possible to capture on set. This data can then be used for multiple image editing applications like scene relighting or image matting.
WHAT ARE YOU PARTICULARLY ENJOYING ABOUT YOUR STUDIES/RESEARCH AT ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV?
I really enjoy that everyone I've met is always super helpful and open to new things. This makes ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV an incredible productive work environment.
