About the Speaker
Robin DeRosa is a professor and an internationally-known advocate for Open Education. Her research and activism focus on increasing public access to knowledge, critically rethinking the profit motive in education, and piloting new architectures for programs and institutions that empower and center learners in their design. Robin is Director of Interdisciplinary Studies at Plymouth State University, part of the University System of New Hampshire. She is also an editor for Hybrid Pedagogy, an open-access, peer-reviewed journal that combines the strands of critical pedagogy and digital pedagogy to arrive at the best social and civil uses for technology and new media in education, and she has taught courses for the Digital Humanities Summer Institute and Digital Pedagogy Lab. A leader in the movement to develop a social justice orientation for pedagogies and practices related to Open Educational Resources (OER) and Connected Learning, Robin’s work interrogates and inspires, and offers possibilities for a commons-oriented approach to educational innovation.
