The awards below are for incoming students, and deadlines are usually prior to program entry.
Applications are submitted through the (unless otherwise noted). Prospective students must submit their admission application before applying for awards, and will use their Graduate Application number and password to access the system.
It is the student's responsibility to review eligibility and make sure they submit a complete application by the deadline. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
FHS Funding Policy for MSc and PhD students
All MSc and PhD students in the Faculty of Health Sciences receive financial support either from scholarships, teaching appointments, or professors' research grants. More information is available in the full policy.

FHS Entrance awards
Dr. Djavad Mowafaghian Doctoral Fellowship in Child Health (PhD entrance fellowship)
Application deadline: January 15
Value: $25,000/year for two years
Eligibility requirements:
Demonstrated academic excellence at the undergraduate level (and graduate level, if applicable)
Complete admission application to the PhD program in the Faculty of Health Sciences at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV
Proposed doctoral research that will contribute to the improvement of child health research, policy, or practice
Not already holding a doctoral fellowship from ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV or an external source
How to apply: students must be nominated for the Doctoral Fellowship in Child Health. If you want to be considered for this fellowship, submit the following as PDF attachments in one email to mscphd_assistant@sfu.ca by January 15:
Copies of your official copy of transcript(s) from each post-secondary institution you have attended (both sides)
CV
Two-page statement outlining your proposed research topic, rationale, methods, senior supervisor and potential benefits for child health care
One-page personal statement outlining your motivation for undertaking a Doctoral degree related to child health
Three letters of reference specifically related to this award application, with at least one academic reference familiar with your work (please have your referees email them directly to mscphd_assistant@sfu.ca)
External and Government funded awards
Applicants can compete for external and Government funded awards (including tri-council awards) before they enter the program. To determine eligibility, and learn more about how to apply, visit the funding agency's page and the ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Graduate and Postdoctoral external and Government funded awards page. ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV has internal deadlines that may differ from the agency websites.
¶¡ÏãÔ°AV entrance awards
¶¡ÏãÔ°AV offers to exceptional incoming graduate students in full-time graduate study or research programs. With the exception of the Special Graduate Entrance Scholarship (instructions below), students are nominated by the admissions committee for ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV entrance awards. All students who meet the eligibility will be considered.
Special Graduate Entrance Scholarship (SGES) FHS specific information
SGES, valued between $1,000 and $10,000, is allocated through an internal nomination process by the admissions committee. To be considered, students must have applied to the MSc or PhD program in the Faculty of Health Sciences. If nominated, SGES will be included in the funding commitment letter issued by the Faculty of Health Sciences.

Bursaries and student loans
Bursaries and student loans for all students are administered by ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV's .
