Objective: The Round Table: BC’s LGBTQ/2S/+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer / Two-Spirit* / +) Mental Health & Substance Use Networking Space aims to regularly bring together service providers, community organization staff & volunteers, researchers, and others interested in LGBTQ/2S/+ mental health in order to exchange ideas, raise awareness, and find points of collaboration with regard to mental health-related needs of LGBTQ/2S/+ individuals in British Columbia.

Principles:

  • We believe that programs, interventions, campaigns, and services for LGBTQ/2S/+ individuals should be community-driven and community-informed.
  • We acknowledge the lasting effects of stigma, exclusion, and discrimination on the basis of sexuality, diverse gender identities, race, indigeneity, disability, and other social identities, and look for solutions that are mindful of this context.
  • We seek to create an inclusive space for dialogue.

Meetings: Once per quarter, rotating location based on ability of members to host

Membership: Open to anyone with an interest in LGBTQ/2S/+ mental health or suicide prevention.

Outputs/decisions: There is no formal decision-making process for this group at this time. Members are not expected to formally endorse any outputs from the Roundtable but are invited to find points of collaboration among members.
