Graduate Research Assistant: Employment Lifecycle
The Vice-President People, Equity and Inclusion (VPPEI) Office invites applications for a Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) to join an evaluation research project in fulfillment of ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV’s commitment to equitable and inclusive employment. This is an opportunity to become involved in a project critical to the success of ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) strategy.
The GRA will review and analyze policies, practices and procedures pertaining to the employment lifecycle of staff and faculty across ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV. Key deliverables include questionnaire design, data collection and analysis, literature review of documents (e.g., collective agreements, ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV policies, institutional reports, etc.), as well as researching promising practices at other institutions and organizations. Findings will be delivered as a report to the EDI team and leadership. We encourage candidates from equity-seeking groups to apply.
Graduate Research Assistant duties
• Questionnaire design
• Data collection and recording
• Interpreting qualitative and quantitative data for coding and analysis
• Preparing reports/communication for both external and internal audiences including senior leadership
• Attend meetings remotely or in-person with project leads • Other related research duties
Required Qualifications and Skills
• Experience in qualitative and descriptive quantitative data analysis, including coding, categorizing, and summarizing
• Experience in questionnaire design or comparable research instruments
• Experience with or willing to learn how to use a qualitative data analysis software
• Expertise with Microsoft Office
• Excellent time management, organizing and interpersonal skills, ability to follow a schedule and complete tasks on time
• Ability to handle confidential data
• Ability to apply sound research techniques, methodology and logical critical analysis (e.g., to problem solve technical and methodological issues that arise)

• Ability to work independently while updating project leads
• Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
• Currently enrolled as a graduate student at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV
Preferred Qualifications and Skills • Experience with performing an environmental scan or synthesizing details in an information intensive process
Supervision
• The position will be supervised by the Director of EDI for Staff/HR and the Director of EDI Faculty Relations. Duties as assigned by the Directors and the Special Advisor.
Rate of pay
• $25 - $28 per hour for 21 hours per week for 6 months (26 weeks) (including vacation and statutory holiday pay, no medical or dental benefits) based on experience and qualifications
Work schedule
• 3 days (21 hours) a week from October, 2022 to April, 2023
• Work will be done remotely and in-person
