Biography
Vishal Jain is the Director, Cultural Safety and Humility at Health Standards Organization. His interdisciplinary academic training includes degrees in Human Rights and Public Health, with a concentration in social inequities and health. Vishal brings expertise in the areas of health strategy and administration, policy and program development, public health, and Indigenous health strategy. He is an Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV where he teaches courses related to the social determinants of health, anti-oppression, and health systems transformation. Over his career, he has held multiple research positions exploring developing organizational capacity to address systemic and structural barriers towards the access, quality and experience of care for equity-deserving communities. Prior to joining Health Standards Organization, Vishal was the Director, Strategic Initiatives at Fraser Health Authority where he facilitated the implementation of the organization’s anti-racism strategy and action plan.
Additionally, Vishal holds multiple committee responsibilities including ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV’s External Advisory Committee and the City of New Westminster’s Social Inclusion, Engagement, and Reconciliation Committee.
