Biography
Dr. Hamilton is a health services and policy professional who currently supports improvement work in BC’s Mental Health and Substance Use Sector. He has held a leadership role in the Long-Term Care sector at Fraser Health Authority and completed a 2-year Health System Impact Fellowship as an embedded scholar within the Primary Care Division at the BC Ministry of Health. He undertook postdoctoral training in knowledge translation and in health services at the University of British Columbia. His postdoctoral work contributed important tools for fostering meaningful partnerships with patients and family caregivers on research projects: the Patient Engagement In Research (PEIR) Framework, Workbook, and Scale. Prior to his postdoctoral training, he obtained a PhD in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences (Measurement and Research Methods) from Western University in 2015. He has led and collaborated on several peer-reviewed research papers, has other upcoming publications, and is involved in many research projects on a variety of health topics.
Research Interest
Dr. Hamilton is interested in advancing the understanding and practice of meaningful patient and family caregiver engagement in research and in health system decision-making.
