Research Excellence Awards
In recognition of Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences researchers who have produced sustained and impactful scholarly output and achieved national and international recognition throughout their careers.

Two Early Career Research Excellence Awards, one for a Social Sciences researcher and one for a Humanities researcher, are available each year to scholars who obtained their PhD within a 10-year window and produced impactful scholarship over those ten years.
Two Research Excellence Awards, one for a Social Sciences researcher and one for a Humanities researcher, are available each year to scholars who have produced sustained and impactful scholarly output and achieved national and international recognition throughout their careers.
Nominations
Up to four Research Excellence Awards will be awarded annually to tenured or tenured track faculty members in recognition of academic scholarship excellence, with an emphasis on significant contributions while in position in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV.
Department Chairs/Directors are asked to submit no more than one nomination per category annually. The Awards Committee is comprised of the Dean and the Associate Deans.
The nomination should include:
- The nominee's full academic CV with an exclusive focus on research and scholarly achievement
- A brief qualitative statement (maximum 500 words) from the nominee about their scholarship
- The Chair’s nomination letter provides a full overview of the nominees’ overall record of achievement
- All information will remain confidential and be held on file for up to three years for future consideration or until a request is made for removal
Award winners shall receive $500 towards professional development and a plaque recognizing their achievements.
