A student-run program striving to develop financial literacy and employability among immigrant, refugee and Muslim women who are at risk of becoming homeless.

With 800 people moving to Surrey every month, Surrey is on its way to being the biggest city in British Columbia. However, 1 in 5 in children grow up below the poverty line. The goal of Startup Homes is to partner with various marginalized communities in Surrey to provide interactive workshops aiming equip women with tangible skills and resources.

Startup Homes is a student-run program striving to instill financial literacy and employability skills in Immigrant, Refugee and Muslim women who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. In partnership with Nisa Homes, a transitional shelter located in Surrey, B.C., the program strives to empower women to gain confidence, means, and ability to start afresh while adapting to a new environment in Canada.
