Celebrating Pride 2024

More than 85 members of the ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV community came together to walk in the 2023 Vancouver Pride Parade, which the university participated in for the first time as an institution last year. Photo by Candace Ratelle.

Beginning in June each year, ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV commemorates —a time to celebrate and honour the contributions of 2SLGBTQIA+ communities together.

The university is committed to fostering a culture of inclusive excellence where all feel safe, welcome, respected and appreciated. In collaboration with 2SLGBTQIA+ faculty, staff, students and alumni, a number of important milestones have been reached over the past year including ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV's first participation in the Vancouver Pride Parade as an institution and the re-launch of the . 

Below, you’ll find information about a number of exciting activities and events to celebrate Pride 2024. You’ll also find 2SLGBTQIA+ resources and supports from ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV and beyond. Be sure to check back as this page is updated throughout the summer.

¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Resources

 
The ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Queer Collective is an inclusive space for 2SLGBTQIA+ graduate students, faculty, staff, alumni and postdoctoral fellows at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV to cultivate belonging, community and queer joy.  The Collective represents a vibrant and skilled network dedicated to resource-sharing, collaboration, advocacy, empowerment, and the protection and celebration of our members and the larger queer community. 
Out On Campus is a department of the Simon Fraser Student Society dedicated to supporting ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV’s LGBTQIA2S+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer or Questioning, Intersex, Aromantic/Asexual, 2-Spirit and more) students and allies. Located in the Student Union Building on Burnaby campus, they offer a variety of services and resources.
The ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Library offers a variety of books, films and other media featuring queer voices to celebrate Pride. They also have a of work and resources by transgender authors and researchers.
