All users with ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Zoom accounts can now permanently change their display name to include a preferred nickname or gender pronouns. 

¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Library launches Indigenous Curriculum Resource Centre (ICRC) - ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Library, March 9, 2021

The ICRC supports the interruption of repressing, negating, and ignoring Indigenous knowledge that is often found in education systems. Providing a place to explore all stages of this work, the ICRC offers assignment examples, resources for classroom use, and resources on Indigenous pedagogy.

Student Learning Commons publishes Inclusive and Antiracist Writing Guides - ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Library, Spring 2021

The SLC has published a suite of which include: an overview, a glossary of terms, writing exercises, and particular guides on Gender Identity and Sexual Orientation; Black, Indigenous, Peoples of Colour; Ableism, Mental Health, Disability, and Neurodiversity. 

¶¡ÏãÔ°AV signs British Columbia Writing Centres Association commitment to antiracism - ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Library, Spring 2021

As a member of the BC Writing Centre Association (a regional affiliate of the Canadian Writing Centre Association), ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV's Julia Lane helped to draft a , which include ensuring that antiracist and decolonizing practices are actively incorporated into tutor training, actively recruiting BIPOC staff and critically evaluating resources to ensure antiracist, decolonial and Indigenized approaches and content.

Computing science teaching toolkit helps increase diversity in computing science - School of Computing Science, January 2021

Studies have shown that women especially are attracted to computer science for problem-solving, to have an impact on the world. In 2018, Dr. Angelica Lim completed a re-work of the ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Computing Science Teaching Toolkit to incorporate problem-solving as a fundamental paradigm. The toolkit, which is provided free of charge to BC high school teachers who are looking to incorporate computing science into their curriculum, has been adopted by over 100 high school teachers in Canada as of January 2021.

On Tuesday, January 26, the Centre for Educational Excellence is bringing together three outstanding Indigenous scholars to discuss how institutions and Indigenous peoples can work together to decolonize and Indigenize teaching and learning practices.

Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) - Sexual Violence Support and Prevention Office, January 2020

In recognition of the ongoing marginalization of Black, Indigenous and People of Colour (BIPOC) in discourses on sexual violence, the theme of SAAM 2021 is Centering BIPOC Perpsectives. ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV's Sexual Violence Support and Prevention Office has prepared a guide to culturally-sensitive campus and community support services for BIPOC people who have experienced sexual violence.
