¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Fair Trade
¶¡ÏãÔ°AV is Canada's most community-engaged research university, defined by its dynamic integration of innovative education, cutting-edge research and far-reaching community engagement.
Adhering to the practices of Fair Trade is a key part of this strategic vision.
¶¡ÏãÔ°AV adheres to the objectives and practices of Fair Trade
Better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability, and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world. ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV is committed to being a model for community sustainability, demonstrating leadership through support of Fair Trade and advocating for ethical purchasing practices throughout the University community. ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Ethical Procurement Policy AD11.21 promotes and encourages participation in trade relationships that are fair and respectful. The University, in partnership with the Simon Fraser Student Society (SFSS), has worked hard over the past months to change behavior and buying habits at our campuses, and to promote fair trade practices, in order to conform to Fair Trade Canada requirements. This academic year, we have started to promote the virtues of fair trade on all of our campuses, and we will continue to accelerate the pace in the coming months and years.
