Your Financial Aid Options
¶¡ÏãÔ°AV offers scholarships, bursaries and need-based awards for eligible international students.
Please note: an offer of admission is NOT an offer of financial support. You should arrange for financial assistance through institutions in your home country before coming to Canada. ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV assumes that incoming students will arrange their own funding to meet immigration requirements for the issuance or renewal of study permits and visas. Be prepared to meet the majority of your financial need for your program of study. For more information and application deadlines, visit the website.
International undergraduates
¶¡ÏãÔ°AV offers a variety of entrance scholarships for new international students. Some of the scholarships require an application, and others do not—they are awarded automatically to new students who meet the criteria. Visit the Entrance Scholarships for International Students website for full details.
Upon enrollment at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV, you may be eligible to apply for awards, bursaries, the program (selected part-time jobs on campus for students with financial need) and scholarships. International students are not eligible to apply for the Canada and Provincial Student Loan Programs.
However, international students are eligible to apply for the International Student Award for Intercultural Engagement.
US Students are encouraged to visit the US Students section of the Financial Aid website for information on US government and private loans that you can apply for.
International graduates
As an international graduate student, you may be eligible for financial assistance programs including scholarships, graduate fellowships, awards, teaching and research assistantships, or bursaries. Total scholarship support cannot exceed $60,000 per academic year. International students are not eligible to apply for the Canada and Provincial Student Loan Programs.
For more information, please visit the website.
Exchange or Study Abroad students
Exchange and study abroad students are not normally eligible to apply for financial aid and awards through ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV. Please speak to your home institution's international office about financial aid and awards options.
The fees you will pay depend on joint university agreements. Contact exchange@sfu.ca for details.
