Physical Access
In the event that you are enrolled in a class that is scheduled in an inaccessible part of campus, it is possible for that class to be relocated. However, you must first be registered with the CAL, and have a documented physical disability affecting your mobility.
Please note that if you need to guarantee accessible classroom locations, you may be eligible for priority registration. Contact us for more information.
Procedure for Moving Your Class to an Accessible Location
Step 1. Immediately inform the Centre for Accessible Learning of any problems with classroom accessibility.
Step 2. The CAL will review the your request for classroom relocation, along with your disabiltiy documentation, to determine if this is an appropriate accommodation. Requests will gain approval based on, but not necessarily limited to, the following criteria: room availability in other buildings; whether the student has considered other options (taking a different class or enrolling at a different time); classroom size and the number of enrolled students; plus the type of course (e.g., biology, computer science, etc.) and any associated classroom requirements.
Step 3. Upon approval, the Centre for Accessible Learning will inform the respective departments to relocate the class to an accessible location.
Step 4. The CAL will notify you of the new location for the class.
Step 5. If the relocation request is denied, a Disability Access Advisor will discuss alternative solutions with you.
