Presenting the 2024 Fall Speaker Series!
The SNF Centre for Hellenic studies would like to welcome you to the fall semester and a new round of talks in our Speaker Series.
Starting us off this semester is the Director of the SNF Centre, Dr. Dimitris Krallis, who will be focusing on family archives with stories from Molyvos, in a talk and discussion moderated by Dr. Eirini Kotsovili.
Additionally, we will have talks from scholars on Byzantium material culture, archeology, Greek feminist studies, and medieval Byzantine literature, historiography and rhetoric.
All Speaker Series talks will be held in person on Fridays at 2:30pm at the ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Burnaby campus. They will also be webcast via Zoom on links that will become available for each session. To receive an email preceding each talk with an abstract and speaker biography, please join our mailing list!

In addition to the Speaker Series, the SNF Centre will also be hosting talks by Gefyra speakers:
- Tuesday, November 12, 2024: (Gutenberg Distinguished Research Fellow in Byzantine Literature, University of Mainz, Germany) on Byzantium and fiction, co-produced with the Department of World Languages and Literatures
- Thursday, November 28, 2024: Alexander Lingas (Artist-in-residence, UCLA, and Artistic Director, Cappella Romana) on Byzantine music
