Now accepting applications for 2021-2022 postdoctoral fellowship

Interested in joining our team? Apply now for the Hellenisms Past and Present, Local and Global Postdoctoral Fellowship at the SNF Centre for Hellenic Studies at 丁香园AV beginning September 2021.

Candidates must have completed their Ph.D. within a maximum of FOUR years before the appointment date and submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, research project outline, and THREE letters of reference.

Peopling the Past receives honorable mention for C-SKI's Emerging Open Scholarship Awards

We are ecstatic to share the news that , a digital humanities initiative with SNF Centre flavour, The awards acknowledge and celebrate exemplary open scholarship. Congratulations to founders Chelsea A. M. Gardner from Acadia University, Melissa Funke from the University of Winnipeg, Megan J. Daniels from the University of British Columbia, Carolyn M. Laferri猫re from the University of Southern California, Christine L. Johnstone from Western Washington University, and last but not least, the SNF Centre for Hellenic Studies' very own assistant professor, , on this accomplishment!

Spring Semester Seminar Series

Our Spring Seminar Series is underway beginning this week! Registration has already opened for a couple events already, but expect more in the weeks to come!

Clementine Literature: A Portrait of the Writer as a Young Christian

Join us this Friday on January 15th, 2021 at 2:30 PM PST to hear our very own postdoctoral fellow, , present his research on Clementine literature, the 4th century story of Roman Clement's journey to Palestine in search of spiritual enlightenment. Basso will share his findings on the influence of the ancient, rhetoric-centered school programs on the structure of the novel; the Syriac contribution to the imagery of the author; and some underrated comical aspects of the story.  

Passing the Torch: Lessons Learned for the Future Generations of Women Advocates

Join the  on January 27th, 2021 at 12:00 PM PST for an exciting event featuring Shirin Ebadi, an Iranian lawyer and former judge, and the first Muslim woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize. Ebadi will share the hard-won lessons she has learned in an effort to pass the torch to future generations of women advocates.

Women, Philanthropy and Nationalism in Mandate Palestine: The Greek Ladies' Union of Jerusalem, 1924-1948

On Friday, January 29th, 2021 at 10:30 AM PST, we will present Angelos Dalachanis, a researcher from the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), as the second speaker of our Spring Seminar Series. Dalachanis will share his research on the minutes of the Greek Ladies' Union covering the last ten years of the British mandate period in Jerusalem.

Fifth annual Edward and Emily McWhinney Memorial Lecture

Our fifth Edward and Emily McWhinney Lecture, organized by assistant professor, , will feature associate professor Roman Gerodimos from Bournemouth University for his talk, "Is There a Future for 'The West'? European Security, the Transatlantic Alliance, and the Role of Values in the New World Disorder". Gerodimos will reflect on the contrasting mindsets and priorities of decision-makers and young people, and will highlight the role of values as the key to the survival or intergovernmental organizations such as NATO, but also of Western liberal democracies in general.
