We are now almost half way through 2020 and a lot has changed. There have been many challenges, but more often than not we have seen responses of resilience and kindness. Even though we can't be with our communities in person, we continue to support better understanding and engagement with Greece's history, language and culture, online.

StaEllinika Pilot

In April we announced a new collaboration with the General Secretariat for Greeks Abroad (GGAE) from the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs to distribute our suite of online courses, apps and videos targeting young learners in the Greek Diaspora, called StaEllinika, made possible through the generous support of the .

Now, the General Secretariat for Greeks Abroad of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America and the Hellenic Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs, are launching a new pilot for the StaEllinika Greek language learning platform to take place in select US schools across California, Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey, under the supervision of Dr. Anastasios Koularmanis, Director of the Department of Education of the Archdiocese of America. StaEllinika's upcoming Greek mythology course

The StaEllinika team has also been hard at work creating a new course on Greek mythology! The beta version is coming soon and will be accessible by web. Preview a sneak peek of the course with this short video clip!

Web satisfaction survey

Since the global pandemic pushed so many of us into lockdown and health and safety concerns forced the cancellation of so many of our events, we have been taking a hard look at how we connect with our communities online. As a result, we recently revamped our website and want to know if it’s meeting our communities’ needs.

We would like to invite you to take the following survey, and tell us how our website is working for you (or not!). As a thank you, you’ll be invited to enter a draw for a $50 gift certificate to Indigo!

Ideas & Futures

Long-time friend and associate of the SNF Centre for Hellenic Studies, Dr. Sadia Abbas from Rutgers University - Newark, and the director of the Park Center for Independent Media at Ithaca College, Raza Ahmad Rumi, have recently launched Ideas & Futures, a new online journal in response to the COVID-19 crisis. The journal re-imagines societies beyond the pandemic by offering an alternative and safe space for meaningful discussion and reflection on today’s most pressing issues featuring contributions from international scholars, activists, journalists, authors and artists.
