Lecture
McWhinney Lecture Video Recording now Available
On March 21st, 2018, we were pleased to welcome Professor Loukas Tsoukalis for the second annual Edward and Emily McWhinney Memorial Lecture entitled "Brexit and the European Union: Is there Life After the Divorce?" Despite the beautiful weather, the lecture attracted a full house of interested community members, including the Consul General of Greece to Vancouver, Mr. Ioannou and his wife. Professor Tsoukalis' lecture outlined some of the social forces and political bargains that drove the victory for the Brexiteers, as well as the stark choices for the UK now that Article 50 has been triggered. Ultimately, the road ahead for both the UK and the EU will not be easy.
Following the lecture, guests had the oppportunity to speak directly with Professor Tsoukalis and discuss the lecture with other members of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Centre for Hellenic Studies at reception in the stately Founders Hall.
