The Hellenic Studies Program is pleased to announce that in summer 2019, we will once again be collaborating with Douglas College to bring a group of fortunate undergraduate students to Greece for a field school. Students will spend three weeks at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Centre for Hellenic Studies at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV, in lectures and orientations, getting to know the faculty and each other as they prepare for their intellectual adventure.

Students will land in the Greek capital of Athens, spending three days in home of democracy, philosophy, and theatre before travelling to the Aegean island of Lesvos where they will spend the next three weeks. The island of Lesvos is the third largest in Greece and has played host to important developments in Greek history and culture since antiquity. Home to Archaic era poets Alcaeus, Arion, and Sappho and the historian Theophrastos, the island was known in antiquity as a place of refinement. Finally, to round out the trip, students will travel to Thessoliniki, Greece's second city, where they will spend the last few days together reflecting on their lessons before dispersing back home to Canada, or on their own individual adventures.

Dates for Info Sessions will be announced soon, so  to sign up for updates.
