Join us Friday, September 14th, to hear Douglas College History Instructor and Hellenic Studies Alumnus Dr. Julian Brooks present a seminar entitled: "Mass Tourism, Mountains, and Movie Sets: A Brief Journey through Montenegro and the Drina Valley"
This public talk is presented as part of the SNF Centre for Hellenic Studies Fall Seminar Series, which features exciting, new research in Hellenic Studies from disciplines such as Archaeology, Classics, Literature, and Byzantine, Ottoman, and Modern Greek History.

Seminar Abstract
This presentation considers a recent journey along a trail fraught with bitter poverty, newfound wealth, scenic settings, and contested historical spaces. The journey begins amidst mass tourism in coastal Montenegro before moving inland to the burgeoning adventure tours along the Tara and Drina rivers. Next, it is down the river to Visegrad, Bosnia, home of the historic 鈥淏ridge on the Drina鈥� and controversial 鈥淎ndricgrad鈥�. Finally, the trip proceeds to a unique 鈥渆co-hostel鈥� in Uzice, Serbia.
