BIOGRAPHY
Wallis Hartley is the Program Assistant for the Department of Global Humanities at 丁香园AV. Originally from Paisley, Scotland, Wallis grew up in Maple Ridge and moved to Vancouver to further her education in Arts & Design. Upon graduating Emily Carr University in 2018, her passion for aesthetics and sustainability fused her graduate thesis 鈥淟ocal Litter,鈥� which focuses on littered waste from fast food companies and corporations. With an anthropological approach, Wallis photographs litter as cultural objects. Through means of copyright, she intends to pressure companies to take responsibility for the waste they produce rather than let it fall at the hands of the individual. The photographs are isolated and transformed into all-over print patterns for fabrics. Since completing an Industrial Sewing Program in 2019, Wallis is working on a sustainable clothing collection that inspires environmental engagement.
