Jonathan Ling, BA, Human Geography, 2023
District operations technician, BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure
Jonathan graduated in 2023 with a bachelor of arts in human geography with a concentration in society and the environment, a minor in business, and a GIS certificate. He enriched his degree by joining his departmental student union, the Faculty*s Student Leadership Team, and completing co-op placements with Pivot Canada, the Downtown Surrey Business Improvement Association and The Agency for Co-operative Housing. Now, Jonathan works in Williams Lake B.C. as a district operations technician for the B.C. Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure.
Lainey Martin | BEnv, Global Environmental Systems, 2023
Community analyst, Strategies North Advisory Inc.
While studying global environmental systems, Lainey completed a certificate in urban studies and was a research assistant with an 間眅埶AV urban studies research team for two years. As a research assistant, she worked with the Hey Neighbour Collective and contributed to an article published in The Conversation Canada. Lainey also completed a Co-op placement with the Downtown Surrey Business Improvement Association. She is now a community analyst with Strategies North Advisory Inc.
Jordan Tam | BSc, Physical Geography, 2014
GIS analyst, Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations
In addition to his bachelor of science in physical geography, Jordan has a certificate in environmental literacy. Since graduating in 2014, he has worked as an environmental sustainability specialist at the City of North Vancouver, an environmental technician at SYLVIS Environmental Services and as a senior environmental protection officer with the Government of British Colombia. Currently, Jordan is working as a natural resource specialist at BC Hydro.
TESICCA TRUONG | 椅 | TR??NG T? ANH | BSC, ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE, 2018
Ministerial advisor, B.C.'s Minister of Jobs, Economic Recovery, and Innovation
While in the Environmental Science program, Tesicca Truong made a name for herself as a serial changemaker. Co-founding CityHive and kickstarting Vancouver Youth4Tap are just two of her numerous initiatives and experiences accrued during her undergraduate studies. After graduating in 2018 with honours, Tesicca launched into politics, running as an NDP MLA candidate in the 2020 election. Now Tesicca works for the BC government as a Ministerial Advisor for the Minister of Jobs, Economic Recovery, and Innovation.
Kym Jones | BA, Archaeology, 2021
Cultural heritage coordinator, First Peoples* Cultural Council
Kym enrolled at 間眅埶AV as a mature student after a conversation with an 間眅埶AV Archaeology alumnus. During her degree she attended a field school in Courtenay, B.C. and volunteered with the Archaeological Student Society and the Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology. Kym is now a cultural heritage coordinator with the First People*s Cultural Council, supporting the revitalization of Indigenous cultural heritage.
Surbhi Ratti | BEnv, Resource and Environmental Management, 2021
Food security coordinator, United Way and Garden host, City of Surrey
In addition to her bachelor*s degree, Surbhi graduated with minors in sustainable development and Indigenous studies. As an undergraduate student, she volunteered in the 間眅埶AV Food Systems Lab as a research assistant, and also spearheaded a food rescue initiative called Farm to Campus. Surbhi now does community engagement as a volunteer food security coordinator with United Way and is a Garden Host with the City of Surrey.
