The degrees are awarded as a way of recognizing achievements or exceptional contribution to the public good. NURJEHAN MAWANI, DOCTOR OF LAWS, HONORIS CAUSA
A lawyer, diplomat, and humanitarian, Nurjehan Mawani is a champion of human rights, inclusion and gender equity. Her groundbreaking work in law and policy transformed refugee determination to recognize gender-related persecution in Canada, sparking change internationally. Her work has empowered women and girls around the world and set the standard for immigration and refugee policymaking.
