In this course, you will use both physical and biological science approaches to watershed science. A watershed is an area that drains into a waterbody. Watersheds encompass terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems and deliver many services that humans rely on, from clean water and flood protection to carbon storage and provisioning of food and materials.

Intended to introduce environmental scientists to application of modern data analysis methods. Covers sampling, experimental design, and the analysis of quantitative data collected in the course of environmental monitoring, assessment and restoration programs.

In this final year course, students from all Environmental Science concentrations will integrate their disciplinary, science backgrounds to solve environmental problems. Project-based coursework will promote collaborative group work, emphasizing research skills, data analysis, scientific writing and communication, preparing students for employment as Environmental Scientists.

Ecogeomorphology is the interdisciplinary study of watersheds that integrates geomorphology, hydrology and ecology to facilitate new understandings of landscapes and ecosystems by bridging dominant paradigms from a number of disciplines. In this course, students will learn concepts including but not limited to geomorphology, hydrology, coding and modeling skills, and more!

Prerequisites: GEOG 111 or EASC 101; BISC 204 or GEOG 215; and a minimum of 60 units. GEOG 213 is recommended.
