WHAT IS THE PROJECT ABOUT?

Birds are important for each city. High richness of birds increases the link between residents and local biodiversity. Interacting with birds will reduce stress, anxiety, and the risk of depression. However, according to The State of Canada鈥檚 Birds, 2019, the population of shorebirds, grassland birds, and aerial insectivores has sharply decreased. Therefore, we have a responsibility to reduce the impact of human activities. 

The goal of the Environmental Science Capstone Project is to create habitats for native birds and the benefits of GRI. The project is based on three actions, tree planting, soil enrichment, and birdhouses to create a bird city. In addition, the project identifies the limitation of supporting native birds in Vancouver.
