Meet the Team!

Student Union Executives

OLIVIA PISACRETA

Co-President

Olivia is in her fourth year of the Environmental Earth Systems concentration and is honoured to serve as Co-president. She spent her last semester abroad at the University of Glasgow in Scotland and is happy to be back at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV! Like most of the other members she loves spending time outdoors, and as a Guider to Pathfinders, it's definitely her second home. Besides outdoor activities, Olivia enjoys doing anything crafty and spending time with her dog. Over the summer she worked for the City of Port Moody’s Environment Team where she assisted in conducting research and improving community outreach.

Rhea Taylor

Co-President

Rhea moved from Zambia to Canada for university a year ago and has been enjoying the beauty of British Columbia since. In terms of interests, she is a huge Potterhead, is obsessed with the band Queen, and hounds anybody with the slightest interest in science to listen to the Ologies podcast. She spent the fall of 2023 on a co-op working at Inlailawatash as a GIS Technician and is exploring the different career options available to an EVSC degree holder.

MEGHAN SMITH

Co-Event Coordinator

Meghan is in her third year of Environmental Science in the Applied Biology Stream. Meghan enjoys hiking and paddleboarding during the summer and skiing during the winter. She also enjoys photography and reading when she’s not completing assignments or studying. Meghan spent the past summer on a co-op with the Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC (FFSBC) as an outreach instructor and hopes to continue expanding her opportunities in environmental science through future co-ops.

KATHERINE WAGNER

Co-Interdepartmental Representative

Katherine is in her third year of Environmental Science in the Applied Biology stream. When she isn’t studying for her many exams, Katherine enjoys spending her time hiking, traveling, and cuddling with her cat, Bean. She is passionate about environmental education and spent the last summer traveling around the lower mainland and the interior of BC teaching people all about fishing.

Ilyssa Shulman

Webmaster/Co-event coordinator

Ilyssa is in her second year of her major in environmental science and is thrilled to begin her first semester as an EVSCSU executive! She hopes to enter the applied biology stream and is especially interested in aquatic ecosystems. She enjoys running, skiing and anything to do with being outside. Ilyssa spends her summers back home in Ontario working as an outdoor educator and canoe tripping guide, both of which fuel her passion for environmental stewardship.

Grayson Barke

Council Representative

Grayson is enrolled in Environmental Science’s Applied Biology program and hopes to join the College of Applied Biologists after graduating. As EVSCSU’s representative on the SFSS Council, Grayson sits on the Equity and Sustainability Committee where he works to improve student experience and environmental policy at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV. He also volunteers with the City of Coquitlam’s Sustainability and Environmental Advisory Committee and helps to organize forums on urban forestry and workshops on climate adaptation in the Tri-Cities. When he’s not on campus, Grayson enjoys spending time with his family in the many parks and natural spaces our region is blessed with.

Samuel Lee

Co-Interdepartmental Representative

Samuel is in his third year of Environmental Science in the Environmental Earth Systems concentration. Samuel finds being involved in the EVSCSU to be super rewarding and add a touch of flavour to the uni experience. Outside of the EVSCSU, Samuel is involved in politics and seeks to use his knowledge to steer public policy outcomes. In his free time, Samuel watches birds and attempts to make excel spreadsheets visually appealing.

KATELYN OWSNETT

Co-Interdepartmental Representative/Secretary

Katelyn is in her second year of Environmental Science in the Earth Systems stream. She is interested in understanding ways to preserve natural ecosystems, mitigating the effects of human activity on the environment, and working towards sustainable solutions! She enjoys hiking, traveling, and spending time reading her favourite books. Katelyn is interested in pursuing a career in the field and hopes to gain experience through co-op!
