What is Environmental Science?

Pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science will have you exploring the relationships between humans and the environment, drawing on a diverse range of disciplines. By examining Earth’s physical, chemical and biological processes, you will learn how to think critically about how the world works, and use science to address environmental problems.  You will tailor your degree to your interests, by choosing one of six streams: General Environmental Science, Applied Biology, Environmental Archaeology, Environmental Earth Systems, Environmetrics, and Water Science.

There are many ways to tailor your degree to your interests, expand your learning and work experiences and to gain a competitive edge on your academic journey.  From declaring a major upon application, completeing a joint or double major, adding a minor or certificate to participating in experiential learning activities (co-operative education, field schools, work placements).

Streams offer course selections tailored to foster specialized skills and knowledge. Students choose the stream that allows them to dig deeper into the area of environmental science that interests them most.

The honours program provides students with an opportunity to learn more deeply about the proess of conducting research which can be useful for those students aiming for a future Masters degree.
