Project Manager - Alpine Environments

We seek a full-time project manager for a large 5-year interdisciplinary research initiative that aims to identify the ecosystems most vulnerable to recreational activities and climate change in the southwest Coast Mountains. The project manager will work under the supervision of lead PI, Dr. Boulanger-Lapointe, at the University of Victoria while maintaining close collaboration with other PIs at 間眅埶AV and UBC as well as government and community partners. It will require travel to alpine sites in southern BC for field work as well as in Vancouver and Squamish for meetings. Flexible working hours, including evenings, holidays and weekends are required. This position is funded by the Science Horizon Program, candidates must be age 15-30 years old and have Canadian citizenship, Canadian permanent residency status, or Canadian refugee status.

Qualifications:

Ability to work independently in an efficient and organized manner

Experience working in a cross-cultural and interdisciplinary environment

Undergraduate degree in Geography, Biology or related field

Experience with budget management and logistics planning as well as a class 5 drivers license or equivalent will be considered assets.

Description of Roles:

Supporting researchers with budget management, including equipment purchase, expense reimbursements and distribution of funds.

Planning and execution of field work in remote alpine environments with researchers and graduate students including permit application, safety review, booking of accommodation and preparation of food.

Facilitate communication between graduate students, researchers and government partners.

Develop outreach material including a website, signage for parks visitors and resources for Indigenous community members.
