Research Interests

My scholarship is in the fields of applied linguistics and second/additional language education. Broadly my work focuses on issues of language, identity and culture as these relate to the internationalization of education, language teacher education, professional identities, and immigrant integration. My work consistently involves the employment of critical perspectives supplemented where appropriate with complementary theoretical approaches to account for complexities in experiencing languages and identities in various educational settings. In that relation, I have found useful sociocultural (Bakhtinian), poststructural and ecological perspectives as taken up in applied linguistics scholarship.
