Post event
Once your event has ended, consider the following recommendations as you wrap up the project. Please note that this list is not exhaustive and will evolve as we continue to learn. It is not required that you adopt each suggestion, however, use this checklist as a tool to help you move further toward Equity, Diversity and Inclusion at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV.
Items with (V) are considerations for, but not limited to, virtual events.
Assessment
- Evaluation method is accessible and bilingual if possible.
- The evaluation can be completed anonymously.
- The evaluation assesses EDI integration.
- Ask participants about the quality of services, such as:
- Food / catering
- Responses to accommodation requests
- Translation services
- American Sign Language (ASL) and Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART)
- Registration process
- Support provided by staff/volunteers
- In post-event surveys, ask open-ended questions such as:
- Did you find it easy to participate in this event? Why or why not?
- What could have we done to make you more comfortable participating?
- Follow up with volunteers, staff, service providers, emcees, facilitators, speakers/presenters, and performers about the following:
- Their experience working with you to create an inclusive event
- Whether or not they felt supported
- If they noticed any barriers to inclusion
- Their ideas on how to make the event more inclusive next time
- Feedback is circulated to relevant parties.
- Feedback and lessons learned are included in debrief and incorporated into future events.
Accessibility
- Slides and/or a recording is available for those who were unable to attend or wish to re-watch the event. (V)
