Lower Division Schedule and Course Planning
Sample Lower Division Schedule
We acknowledge that 'one size does not fit all.' The lower division schedule provided below is designed as a sample for students. This schedule optimizes efficiency and requisite considerations, allowing students to complete the lower division core courses in four terms.
TYPICAL COURSE LOAD
It is common for students to take fewer courses per term. As a result, the majority of ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV students take more than four years to complete their degrees.
First Term Recommendations
For your first term, consider starting with three or four courses. If you are accustomed to taking math, chemistry, biology, and physics concurrently in one semester in high school, it is advisable to select at least three science courses that you feel comfortable with. The fourth course can be either another science course or a breadth course (e.g., B-Soc or B-Hum).
Full-Time Study Expectations
If your goal is to pursue professional schools (e.g., medical, dental, veterinary schools), they typically expect students to enroll in full-time study, which ranges from 12 to 15 units per term (usually 4 to 5 courses).
