The WWEST Associate Chairs act as role-models and deliver programs in their region based on existing WWEST programs as well as their own proposed activities. WWEST Associate Chair activities align with WWEST’s mission to engage industry, the community and students to increase the awareness and participation of women and other under-represented groups in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields of study and careers.
UBC’s Okanagan campus announced September 20th, 2018, that Jennifer Jakobi, Professor in the School of Health and Exercise Sciences, has been named the newest Associate Chair of Westcoast Women in Engineering, Science and Technology (WWEST). Jakobi will head the new satellite program, which will be tasked with improving participation of women and other underrepresented groups in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) in the Okanagan.
