Women Deliver Conference 2019

On June 3-6, 2019, the Women Deliver 2019 Conference will take place in Vancouver, on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Tsleil-Waututh, Musqueam, Squamish Nations people. The conference will be the world's largest conference on gender equality and the health, rights, and wellbeing of girls and women in the 21st century.

More than 6,000 leaders, influencers, advocates, academics, activists, and journalists will come to Vancouver with the hopes of accelerating progress for girls and women everywhere.

The 2019 conference focuses on power, and how it can drive - or hinder - progress and change. The conference will engage participants to examine the power over one's own self, structural change to create a more power-balanced and equal world, the power of the people, and empowerment of girls and women. It will examine girls' and women's individual power, the challenges, systems, barriers, and opportunities for progress in power relations; and the power of movements to shape critical consciousness.

will include Sophie and Justin Trudeau (Prime Minster of Canada and Deliver for Good Influencer with Women Deliver, respectively), Tarana Burke (founder of the "Me Too" movement), the Honourable Maryam Monsef (Minister of International Development and Minister for Women and Equality, Government of Canada), and Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka (Executive Director, United Nations Women).

In addition to the main of the conference, which includes various symposia, panels, talks, and workshops, will take place all around the world. In Vancouver and the Lower Mainland, the Vancouver International Film Festival will screen films of all genres (narrative, documentary, animation, music video, student, PSAs, and others). The (CanWaCH) and (WDMC) have also set up the "Canada Pavilion" during the conference, less than a 10-minute walk from the conference at the Vancouver Convention Centre. Multiple events hosted by Canadian organizations will take place betwen June 2nd-7th and include events such as "Engaging Men and Boys," "Digital Storytelling: Experiences Around the World," "Stop Online Misogyny," "Girls Dream Big," and "Engaging Conversations: Connecting Faith Leaders and Youth on Adolescent Sexual & Reproductive Health." While the in-person registration for Women Deliver 2019 is sold-out, the plenary sessions, inspiring Power Talks, and select concurrent sessions will be streamed online on June 3rd-6th. Included will also be original content from the Women Deliver Live studio created just for the digital audience. You can register and find more information about taking part online .
