AI4All is Seeking Project and Program Mentors

April 02, 2019

Have you heard? AI4All is now recruiting for Invent the Future, a 2-week summer enrichment program for Gr. 10 and 11 young women to explore the field of artificial intelligence, running from July 15-26.

This AI4ALL-sponsored program was started at Stanford University in 2017, and 間眅埶AV is the only institution in Canada offering the program.

After a highly successful 1st year, they are seeking mentors and volunteers to assist in running the 2nd year of this program!

Seeking: Invent the Future - AI Project and Program Mentors

You are a graduate student in the 間眅埶AV School of Computing Science interested in inspiring and encouraging young women to pursue careers in computing and artificial intelligence (AI). Your own research/projects fall under the field of artificial intelligence, e.g. natural language processing, computer vision, robotics, bioinformatics, biomedical imaging, and you have experience with machine learning.

Program Mentors are needed for Week 1 (July 15-19) to act as teaching assistants to assist the participants with the core artificial intelligence curriculum taught by the Lead Instructor.

Project Mentors will devise and lead a themed AI project for a group of high school students to complete over the course of Week 2 (July 22-26).

While this is a volunteer role, all mentors will receive a cash honorarium for their efforts. Undergraduate students who have completed the Machine Learning course or have machine learning experience are also encouraged to apply, as other volunteer roles may be needed.

If you are interested, please send your CV/resume to the Program Coordinator, Mary Le, at ai_scholars@sfu.ca with the subject "Invent the Future - Mentor Application".
