March is a month for celebration. With International Women鈥檚 Day approaching on March 8th, recognize the women in your life that inspire you! It鈥檚 a day to not only celebrate the powerful role of the women in our lives, but also those who have inspired change and progress in our communities. It鈥檚 a time to reflect on the , while supporting the growth towards equality, women鈥檚 rights and women鈥檚 empowerment.
March 19, 1911, marked the first-ever International Women鈥檚 Day in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland. It wasn鈥檛 until 1975 that the United Nations (UN) adopted and strengthened the women鈥檚 movement with the creation of International Women鈥檚 Year. Two years later, the UN marked March 8th as International Women鈥檚 Day. March 8th has grown into a globally recognized holiday for both developing and developed countries to accelerate gender equality worldwide.
