PWRC's COVID-19 Response

This document aims to provide an overview of ways in which PWRC is responding to the global COVID-19 pandemic. It is a living document that will be updated as new situations and opportunities present themselves and covers issues concerning on-going research, re-thinking research priorities, as well as community engagement and outreach.

WORLD WATER DAY

Scheduled World Water Day celebrations and events set for March 22nd, 2020 have been postponed or cancelled in coordination with the World Health Organization’s recommendations. While these face-to-face events did not take place, and the campaign is ongoing. We have compiled some online events to review in celebration of this day.

Theme: Water and Climate Change 

The webinar was on the global theme for this year’s World Water Day, Water and Climate Change, looking into the multiple and complex interlinks between water science and policy with climate change.

UN-Water coordinates the efforts of UN entities and international organizations working on water and sanitation issues. Their website is a hub of water data, publications, and news.  

The 2020 United Nations World Water Development Report focuses on the challenges, opportunities and potential responses to climate change, in terms of adaptation, mitigation and improved resilience that can be addressed through improving water management.

Webinars on contemporary Canadian water issues from experts and leading researchers across the country.

Webinars include a panel of experts who deliver up-to-date information on timely water-related topics. Live webinars include a Q&A session to engage and connect with attendees. Upcoming free sessions on March 20th, April 29th and April 30th.

EPA's Office of Research and Development hosts this webinar series to share current . Enjoy recordings of their past webinars and register for their upcoming session on April 29th, 2020 about “Water Treatment Modeling Tools for Removing PFAS and other Contaminants."

Webinars are based on themes of timely interest, including topics of special issues of Water International but also aligned with the international water agenda and in close collaboration with keypartners.

DISCUSSIONS

The Water Alternatives Forum is intended to provide space for critical debates and discussions about water issues. There is a great opportunity here to think critically and engage with other water focused thinkers around the world.

FACEBOOK GROUPS

This group's objective is to share information and knowledge about water-related events and issues such as watershed management, water production and distribution, private sector participation in water services, water exports, etc.

The IWA Young Water Professionals provides a range of activities, services and initiatives to young professionals and students in the water and wastewater sector untill the age of 35. This group is open for everybody who is interested in water and water issues and would like to contribute, share or get connected with other Young Water Professionals.

The BlueTech Research Podcasts feature conversations with influential & interesting people from the water technology sector and latest news.
